BBC: Merkel’s party hails dream result
Even if some of their ideas are adopted it will sharpen the political divide in Germany.
But one story tonight is this: at a time when Germans are outraged at the excesses of capitalism, the greed of the bankers and the bonuses they take, they have given the centre-left its worst result in nearly 60 years.

She was greeted with cheers of “Angie! Angie!” as she addressed supporters at the CDU headquarters in Berlin.

Arran Island

Am Wochenende hab ich einen kleinen Ausflug nach Arran Island gemacht. In den Highlands bin ich schon ziemlich viel unterwegs gewesen und fande sowohl die Landschaft als auch die Menschen immer faszinierende. Fuer solche Roadtrips in den Norden hab ich mir eigentlich immer ein Auto am Flughafen ausgeliehen, aber nicht diesmal. Fahrrad und Bahn ists geworden.
Mit dem Zug kommt man bequem von Glasgow Central Station nach Ardrossan Harbour, wo dann gleich die Faehre rueber nach Arran auf einen wartet. (Fahrplan gibts hier). Insgesamt dauert die ganze Fahrt ca 2 1/2 Stunden.
Definitiv ein schoener Wochenendausflug und selbst mit einer Uebernachtung auf Arran duerfe einem nicht so schnell langweilig werden.
